Second visit to the vet, this time our PCP. (PCV?) Treatment is more aggressive, but he gives a good prognosis. Hydration, B12, appetite stimulants.

The Mrs says she fought the feeding this afternoon, which is good.

Charging

I plugged in my Honda for the last time yesterday. The past six years and 84,000 miles have been mostly good. There have been a few disappointments and frustrations, but on balance I’d do it again. The time has come for a change though. I’m still not ready for full electric, and none of the PHEVs currently available really impress me.

@jerzone The Clarity has similar quirks. The maintenance minder system doesn't account for electric vs ICE, so it wants an oil change based on mileage whether you use the ICE 100% or 10% of the time.

It also asks for service every 5k, but only to rotate the tires. (They will try to upsell you an oil change if you go in.) And the ICE starts below 25F regardless of battery state. . .

Honda make a great car, but they could've done better. So they discontinued it.

@jerzone They also neutered the seat heaters and made the 'resume' function on the cruise control almost useless. I assume both were energy saving measures. (Cruise always seems to settle 1 MPH below the set point.)

@jerzone My radar cruise is great, but you have to put the car in Sport mode to keep up with traffic. The Normal and Eco modes won't accelerate fast enough to keep up if traffic speed changes. Other drivers get angry and/or cut between you and the vehicle you are trying to follow.

Well this is a giant pile of “no shit!” I’ve been plugging my car in every night for years. This is what passes for research?

It doesn’t solve long journeys, it doesn’t solve access to charging for apartment dwellers, and it’s what most EV owners do already.

@Mrfunkedude My oldest boy went deaf. He scared us many times b/c he wouldn’t wake up when you approached him.

He also became very good at sleeping in a pose that looked like he’d just keeled over.

Just had a person ask why my Cadillac CTS was so low. Turns out he drives an SRX and didn’t know they’d made a wagon version.

There is a mouse living in my VW. I’ve seen it.

Twice now it has un-baited my traps without tripping them. This means war.

Moving on to “humane” traps now. Little bastard has to go before he finds important wiring.

(I find them less humane as I forget to check them & the victims starve instead of getting a quick death.)

I just had to order a used part for my 2018 Honda because apparently it’s made of Unobtanium.

2-4 MONTHS for new official parts from Honda, and the aftermarket suppliers are out of stock indefinitely.

Some days I miss my 1996 Volvo.
