Short blog post about "Everybody Wants to Crank the World", a demo I made recently https://aras-p.info/blog/2024/05/20/Crank-the-World-Playdate-demo/

Calculating only some pixels both spatially and temporally is pretty much the same as DLSS, right? :P

@aras You do get the motion blur for free when cranking!

Maybe I should write a short blog post about development for playdate, or somesuch. It is quite fun!

F**ks sake they changed something pretty fundamental between UE 5.4 Preview and UE 5.4 Final - the ability to have multiple objects in an asset file, which SUDS relies on - the dialogue and string table are in the same asset; now the string table is gone.

I was worried they might do this because they started hiding them in 5.3 (not a problem) so I tested 5.4 Preview but everything was fine. Now it's completely broken in 5.4 Final, every single dialogue line is <MISSING STRING TABLE ENTRY> 😠

@neilhenning @sinbad it's already ongoing.

So! For two months by now, I've been part-time tinkering with #blender video sequence editor. Now that Blender 4.1 is feature-complete, here's wot I managed to sneak in: https://aras-p.info/blog/2024/02/06/I-accidentally-Blender-VSE/

Let's see what other ruckus I can cause within the sequencer for the next release.

@aras Thank you for the post and all the work! It's funny you mention The Process, because I remember quitting my second games job almost 20 years ago for similar reasons and buying "Der Process" from Kafka to the manager's manager as an explanation. In English the translation was "The Trial", so the joke wasn't as funny. In that job we had to cheat the development process in order to get any progress done. The game, that was planned to release in 2 years, took 6 years to make.

After fixing a bug, If I comment out my debugging code, the issue stays fixed. If I delete my debugging code, the bug comes back. My code base is littered with commented out debugging code that I'm afraid to delete.

@grumpygamer investing in build pipelines to test with ASAN, TSAN, UBSAN, and valgrind have always been extremely worthy for my projects... and humbling! Maybe it is an option for you?
