    You could argue that Russia-Ukraine business is about "defense" - for both sides - when we're talking about ethical issues, we need to use stricter language

    @halcy hi halcy, can you please tell me why Mastodon admins can not easily extend the character limit to a number greater than 500? this feels like a very DQN decision and as a result the VIPPER community who are stuck with Mastodon needlessly suffer.

    If I wanted to turn 20 posts into a long thread I would just use Twitter, I can't engage in proper discourse if my messages are limited to 500 characters (~80 words) as well.

    @amerika my last *chan software experiment was a tag-based board that had federation. it had a good run until the soyjack retards decided to troll the network to death. (afaik all federated chans have never been able to solve the spam problem)
