The shrine of Tigh Nam Bodach in Glen Cailleach, Perthshire bears a strange resemblance to the nativity scene, but here the meaning is far more mysterious, and the ancient origins of its annual reenactment may make it the oldest interrupted pagan ritual in the world.

So glad I caught this brilliant little exhibition at The Horse Hospital! Flesh to Touch, Flesh To Burn! Don't Keep The Wicker Man Waiting! 50 Years of The British cult horror film.

folkhorrormagpie,

The exhibition forms part of the official 50th anniversary celebrations of the original release of Robin Hardy's 1973 film The Wicker Man, a cult classic and no doubt a genre touchstone for all of us here.

The small basement room packs a lot in, from annotated scripts from Hardy’s personal archives and original costume designs, to symbols of the film’s continued influence on contemporary artists of all kinds.
