The carrier on Friday said it launched a media platform to serve travelers personalized advertisements on seat-back screens and in its app, among other platforms, as it seeks to leverage customer data.
Companies are training LLMs on all the data that they can find, but this data is not the world, but discourse about the world. The rank-and-file developers at these companies, in their naivete, do not see that distinction…So, as these LLMs become increasingly but asymptotically fluent, tantalizingly close to accuracy but...
It’s just history repeating itself. We’ve seen dotcom bubble, web 2.0 rush, nft fiasco and now AI. All fueled by VC greed. On top of that in today’s world companies try to get as much data as possible and so called AI is the perfect tool for that.
If the question is open, e.g. “do you like apples?” and the question is in my area of interest, I usually give an answer. But if the question assumes an answer or is deliberately polarizing, e.g. “why don’t you like apples?” I pass.
I think you didn’t understand my answer. Let me give you an example. If I say “I like oranges more than apples”, normal people will think “ok, this guy likes oranges more than apples”. But modern, progressive people who care about political correctness will call me applefobic.
People got too sensitive growing in the secure bubbles and when exposed to a real world with a real science, statistics and opinions get offended over nothing.
TLDR: I want to easily have a bunch of tabs somehow synchronized on both my desktop and mobile devices and in different groups. Safari and other iOS browsers haven’t worked well for me....
I know you said you’re not looking for a Pocket like solution but honestly it’s the best solution for your problem. With tabs you might lose it all when the browser crashes and for some reason you’re not able to restore the session. If you don’t want to use cloud based solutions like mentioned before, check Linkwarden which can be selfhosted.

The way people online constantly say ‘talk to your doctor’ like it’s a panacea is a lot like how medieval peasants weren’t able to read scripture and they just had to trust their clergy’s interpretations...
If you feel sick talk to your doctor. Internet “knowledge” doesn’t work in case on medical issues. So called tips and tricks may work for a person who posted it but it could be dangerous for you. If calling a stranger (in this case a doctor’s office) invokes anxiety, talk to a therapist.
Earlier today I received an email from Proton with an annual survey. Among standard questions there was a significant amount of AI related questions, e.g. mail assistant. Does it mean Proton is looking into AI?
There was a question about AI and privacy. Don’t remember exactly what it was but it was something like “What do you care the most about integrating AI into products” and most of the answers were about the privacy.
Ollama seems pretty good. I’ve been playing with it recently and when combined with openwebui, it makes pretty nice local chatgpt. But I agree, there are more pressing issues I would like to see fixed/implemented.
I would be happy to see privacy respecting AI assistant in Proton products, especially Proton Mail. English is not my native language and every now and then I need to use 3rd party services to compose a professional sounding email. Having this built into Proton Mail would have made my life easier. Also, having a feature that detects and labels faces and features in the pictures stored in a Proton Drive would be an amazing addition.

Voice assistant that allows to perform common tasks like setting up calendar events, sending emails, opening apps, etc. Bonus points for “connect to server abc” and the assistant would open the terminal and ssh to abc server.

I have a few thoughts on this. And before you downvote me, read to the end and have a genuine reflection.
Europe is facing a huge problem with crimes committed by immigrants.
Despite of the spin “we need a workforce to fulfill low paying, low profile jobs”, most of the so called “doctors” and “engineers” prefer to use social benefits instead of getting a job.
Most of the immigrants prefer to stay in “ghettos” instead of integrating into a society they moved into.
Because of that and many more similar issues, people turn into dangerous, populist ideas. Those far-right movements prey on nations insecurities and gain support by hitting the “sweet spot”. And the worst part is that the central views get boxed as left or right winged which basically undercuts what they are tying to sell.
And just for the record, the Polish PiS party is not far right. It’s a populist, socialist party playing a church card every time it’s convenient.
