Does someone know if still many people use native Windows to program (especially in the web) since WSL appeared?

einenlum, to random

I'm still baffled that so many publishers (specialized in programming) don't offer syntax highlighting for code excerpts. For books that cost around 40€ in PDF/ePub.

Humans are cool again!
Make text appear exactly how you typed it. Copy paste a few JS lines.

Try Human Replay:

einenlum,

@verbumfeit Thanks a lot! Should be fixed now 😊

Just bought a license key for #Forvo #API. And I see this in the terms… ???

Is it even legal to forbid people to cache content?

Any native English speaker using the major system?

I'm quite confused by this rule:

I made an app to store #pinball scores with your friends.
You're a pinball nerd? Check this out!

Why is it not allowed to use explode('', 'myString') in ?

Why do we need to use str_split or mb_str_split?

@carlton May I ask which language you've been learning? 🙂

einenlum,

@carlton Oh! Bravo 🙂

einenlum, to til

#TIL: NumberFormatter in #PHP doesn't use non-breakable spaces (NBSP). It uses narrow non-breakable spaces (NNBSP).

If you're getting insane because your tests fail, keep this in mind.

To replace NNBSP with NBSP:

str_replace("\u{202F}", "\u{00A0}", $value)

Took me 20 min to find out what was going on

Does anyone have a list of hosting services allowing one-click-deployment? I'm thinking about deploy buttons

You're a curious #PHP dev? Give yourself a gift for Christmas: learn #Python in no time with this book

#Youtube 's team apears to have added a setTimeout to delay the loading page when using #Firefox.
If true, it's insane. And disgusting.

Does anyone know how this was done?
https://memory.pour.paris/

How to create a map with only selected public transportation lines (only subways and not regional trains) for a defined perimeter?

It seems to be using #Mapbox and #OpenStreetMap.
Do I need to create custom tiles to achieve a similar effect? #map

einenlum,

@hamido Oh interesting, thanks! Any recommended resource about this?

einenlum,

@hamido Oh I guess it's polylines in Leaflet https://leafletjs.com/reference.html#polyline

A lot of cool initiatives in the #PHP community right now.
Want to learn #Go? Check Mohamed Said's course. Want to learn #Rust? Ryan Chandler might help you.
Want to learn #Python? My book is the way to go: https://www.einenlum.com/book

Exciting times. I'm convinced this shortcut approach is the future to learn a new programming language.

Started reading https://thehardway.guide
A great free resource for anyone wanting to learn a (human) language. Straight to the point. Evidence based. You should check it out.

I have read several times GitHub's documentation about #GitHub apps, and I still don't understand the difference between "GitHub App installation" (https://docs.github.com/en/apps/creating-github-apps/authenticating-with-a-github-app/authenticating-as-a-github-app-installation) and "GitHub App on behalf of a user" (https://docs.github.com/en/apps/creating-github-apps/authenticating-with-a-github-app/authenticating-with-a-github-app-on-behalf-of-a-user).

Is it possible to authenticate a user (SSO) through the second one too? What if I want webhooks AND an SSO? Should my user authorize two different apps?

Anyone having good resources about this?
