What's with the autoblog feature that emacs.ch instance has (https://faq.emacs.ch/). Can we get it @ColinTheMathmo ?

@christianp It looks fun. To be able to see my posts in the form of a blog.

FAQ says,
> No. The autoblog engine is not meant to be released into the public. However, if you are a Mastodon admin and are interested to use it for your instance, please get in touch with louis@emacs.ch.

It's your choice, but do think about it once.

Any Omnivore read-it-later app users out there?
Seems Mozilla has de-listed the Firefox extension and is dragging their heels to get it reinstated.

Yes, the same that owns , the read-it-later app.

I smell a rat. Mozilla needs to come clean on this. They are pro right?

More from the developer here: https://blog.omnivore.app/p/a-note-on-our-firefox-extension

@NeadReport I love its pdf reading feature.

@NeadReport Also to add, somehow it lacked iOS's "Look up" feature in pdf reading, and I messaged Jackson, and voila, it was there in the next couple of hours (he also added me in the Testflight).

Closed registrations on https://pixelfed.social

While it has 98K users, only 7K of them are monthly active

The fact that it still runs on two VPS is pretty cool, though there are some much needed performance improvements before the app is officially released 😅

The https://pixelfed.org/servers has dozens of open servers if you are looking to join!

@dansup Which other instances support login with Mastodon? I made an account, but later got to know that I could login with Mastodon, so I deleted my old account, and now I am locked out because you closed registrations. 😅

It's infuriating that there's no app that, when planning a journey and there is no bus stop nearby, suggests the nearest bus stop rather than me searching through the map.

@ColinTheMathmo, it's a pretty niche infuriation. I should have mentioned it, but I'd love to explain the complexity to you and hear what you've got to say.

I live in India, and I reside in Ahmedabad (a city in Gujarat). Now my city has two bus services: one is BRTS, and another is AMTS. All the map apps support AMTS, which is this old, crappy bus service. It's too complex to understand. Due to which I've never even travelled in that bus. Then comes the new bus rapid transit service, or BRTS. This service was inaugurated in 2009, so it's relatively new, and the buses are good. Those are air-conditioned. You get a good place to stand. The stops are pretty well designed, and you get enough time to get on the bus. Now, BRTS is the best. I use it to go everywhere, and hands down, I love it. The tickets, though cheap, are costlier than AMTS, but I feel like it's okay. Now the catch is that not every place has a BRTS station, and that's where this problem comes for the people in my city. It's hard to go to every place in my city, which is why it comes in handy to have a service like this which shows the nearest bus station.

If you want to read about BRTS, here's the wiki(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahmedabad_Bus_Rapid_Transit_System). It's pretty interesting. I just finished high school and started to explore my city on my own and with friends (without parents), so we started to use public transport and are fascinated by our own city.

I wrote a short goodbye post on Reddit as we enter the last hours of Apollo. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the support over the years, it’s truly been the journey and dream of a lifetime building this app and meeting so many people. 🥰💙 https://reddit.com/r/apolloapp/comments/14nb5qs/today_is_apollo_for_reddits_last_day_and_i_just/

@christianselig Will you be required to pay if Apollo doesn’t make any money. What about monthly support like Github?
