chris,

If that was a comma, it would be way more impressive…

chris,

Just pass in the name of a json file as a CLI input (or default the name and act on it if present or use it if indicated [e.g. /U == use json.config]).

chris,

What process do you use to sign your binaries?

chris,

Hopefully it’ll run Linux with no issues.

is it possible to run pixelfed on a domain that already runs mastodon?

I can install and run pixelfed on a subdomain, for example, pixelfed.example.com. However, I also run mastodon.example.com. My webfinger points at mastodon. How do I configure a webfinger for both pixelfed and mastodon? How do you all have your webfingers setup when you run multiple activitypub-based services?...

chris,

This doesn’t answer your exact question and I haven’t done this with webfingers, but I’ve done this with a reverse proxy like nginx (or traefik) and no special DNS tricks. Your example.com will point to 1.2.3.4 IP and then the subdomain routing is handled by the reverse proxy. I’ve had upwards of 8 different domains and subdomains all running on a single box taking advantage of docker containers.

chris,

Hmm. Ok, but mastodon and pixelfed are unrelated services at the authentication level. When you hit the home page of each it’ll ask you to authenticate. Even if you use the precise same info (e.g. name, email, password even), each one will be authenticating separately. Or am I missing something still?

chris,

I’m seeing posts about OIDC support in mastodon but not yet for pixelfed.

chris,

Glad you found similar issues. At least you know “it isn’t me”.

Passing on the right on a highway

Why is it illegal to pass someone on the right on the highway in the US? In Canada if there’s a three lane highway which, in my case, isn’t very prominent, there’s really no law that enforces it, it’s more of a respect thing here on two lane highways both ways if someone is going slow in the left lane to go into the...

chris,

If I were a traffic cop, I’d pretty much just enforce this one law. All day. Every day. Left lane squatter? Straight to jail.

chris,

I have 4 spinny disks in my NAS. The tile the server is sitting on makes more noise than the drives. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

Do you configure your servarr docker containers from one docker-compose file, or individual ones?

I followed trash guides to set everything up blindly and my set up is working well. But, I feel like having jellyfin in the same docker compose as my “arr” services isn’t good. So, I’d be curious to see if I should split things up. I am even wondering if i should let portainer manage everything.

chris,

I liked having them all in the same file - easier to keep everything in sync. I also had “dependency” links to keep things starting in order.

chris,

As an American, you can’t argue that metric is better than using CLS. How big is a kilometer? Who the hell knows? How big is a CLS? Everyone knows the approximate size. Well done.

chris,

A peck of pickled peppers, you certainly didn’t pick.

chris,

I used to do this when on Windows too: C was for the OS and apps, D was for user data. The same principle here - separating OS from data is a game changer - and even easier on Linux I think. Makes it so easy to wipe a partition and try something new.

chris,

Honestly, it doesn’t really matter that much. 99.999% of my content I see comes from the people I follow and what they post and boost. Start by following people that interest you-and the rest just happens.

chris,

I have 2. One was a SanSaire (from a kickstarter before Sous Vides became popular) and the other is built into an InstaPot. The latter is super convenient and you get the benefit of it being useful in other non-Sous Videy ways.
