One of my biggest pet peeves is people who call Mexican food “street _”. Like bro it’s called elote. It’s not even hard to say. “Street corn” sounds like you found that shit in the sidewalk. Just learn the word

@danirabbit The only street food is from a food truck, or cart, etc on the street. Doesn’t matter what it is. Quite literally because you’re on the street. 🤷‍♂️

@danirabbit 🤔 from your pov, does my statement need adjustment? I guess what I was “trying” to say is that tacking on “street food” to any reference of cultural/ethnicity is offensive, and that the only allowable is in a more generalized use, as in going to the food trucks. But even saying that, I don’t use term street food anyway.

TIL Fedora is packaging a web browser app I developed for elementary OS, stopped updating over three years ago, and marked as end-of-life two years ago—yet it happily shows up in Fedora 40 if you search my name. It crashes on launch, so it doesn’t even work…

WHY??

Edit: I guess the package is being EOL'd in Fedora due to it no longer building and this thread, huzzah! My recommendation to distros: don’t package random apps and then not maintain them/communicate with upstream.

The downside of replacing an ARM soc with an old laptop for a #SelfHosted server - when the server goes offline and it's because the cat sat on it, closing the lid and causing the laptop to suspend.

    My desktop dual-boots Windows 11 and Ubuntu 23.10. Windows is the default to boot. There is zero display output until the OS boots because all three displays are connected to an external GPU.
    To start Ubuntu, I have to stab F10 randomly, then press enter to get the boot device menu and select.
    I know I chose the right option before the displays start because only Linux makes a farting noise when it initialises my audio interface. I don't really care to fix this.

    @trancilo @popey if Linux is your default, you can run a systemd (if you use systemd-boot) command to reboot windows. I just created a desktop file, and I can initiate the reboot and walk away coming back to windows if needed.

    Sure, I've got a beast running in the office, but maybe I'd like to do some casual in my livingroom after some on !

    @soller understood. Love what I’m seeing, but I tend to do a lot of work in the cloud/k8s space. Generally looking to replace vscode without having to maintain a vim config. 😂
