Royal Mail owner agrees to £3.57bn takeover by Czech billionaire

I think they called it ' taking back control'

@therightarticle so a Czech billionaire has the legal powers to bring criminal prosecutions against the British public via a purchased royal institution that is currently going through a legal case for abuse of its powers & theft on a biblical scale of innocent people's money...

@br00t4c it is because the trusts are operated by slopey shouldered clueless fuckheads and the people at the very top of the trusts really don't give a shit about data integrity they will always find a patsy to string up and hand to the ICO and the CQC. They don't care about anything other than protecting themselves from unwanted media attention...

Inflation is down, the economy is growing. But will the cost-of-living crisis sink Sunak in the U.K. election?

@br00t4c we are still paying over 20% more for stuff than we were 2 years ago & that number is still going up. The Tories claim they couldn't do anything about the biblical profiteering that was driving inflation but now it has come down they are running a victory lap for it. What did they actually do, what policies or interventions were they responsible for, last I remember they were blaming workers & telling them to reject pay rises & to stop being so greedy. Fuck the motherfucking Tories...

@DEDGirl @Hooper @TomSullivan it has led me to lose a fair bit of my humanity through questioning bitterness, the same media in the UK that refused to recognise the biblical loss of life & the epic mismanagement of the crisis, literally ignoring the tragic circumstances of their deaths will now print a full front page about a samurai sword attack that saw one person lose their life which is tragic but I find myself enraged at their dereliction of duty rather than sad for the loss being reported.

Vonskinnback,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@DEDGirl @Hooper @TomSullivan anything less than a thousand deaths a days that went virtually unremarked in the British press will forever be my baseline for sadness, if the deaths of 1000 people a day isn't newsworthy then nothing less than that ever will be & anybody expressing sadness for anything short of that who didn't recognise the biblical loss during COVID is generally met with a big heavy "who gives a fuck" which surprises them in much the same way their lack of humanity hurt me...

How to note Sunak’s election announcement here? Getting drenched in rain was symbolic & symptomatic; tragically a child died in a mudslide in Yorkshire the same day.

Will this election be decisive from a climate policy point of view? Labour will be better, but how much exactly who knows, given scrapped pledges. Of course i am hopeful for Green party gains. But actual positive excitement and energy, again rallying everyone to make this a etc? sadly, no.

Vonskinnback,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@pvonhellermannn I honestly do not know how labor could even consider the position of turning this country around from its demonstrable position of weakness caused by the Tories and the destruction of our economy. The cost of repairing the damage is running into the trillions that is how badly the Tories have done and how unlikely labour will be able to turn this around especially while the Tories and the client media will be sniping from the sidelines from the get go...

Lets be absolutely clear - at the centre of the infected blood scandal, as so many other 'scandals' involving institutions riding rough-shod over the interests & well-being of ordinary people (see the posted list & additions in my timeline over the weekend) is one thing:

People in power lying to those whose lives have been ruined.

LYING... not making mistakes, not misunderstanding... LYING.

This is the culture that infects our political & social 'elites'; being (very) comfortable lying to us!

Vonskinnback,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@ChrisMayLA6 these privileged smug lying arseholes in positions of power have done so much damage that I would actually support a life sentence for anybody caught doing it, their lies over the post office, Hillsborough, Brexit, immigration, Covid, the EU & everything else that has actually led to the pain, suffering & the deaths of innocent people should be met with the harshest & most aggressive punishment available, strip them of their wealth to pay for the damage they caused with their lies.

is too stupid to realize that NOT voting for is a vote FOR , and that her boycott of could be her last — She might not get another opportunity to vote EVER.

@benroyce @nicholas_saunders @rameshgupta I assume there is a moral argument to be made that the best thing for humanity the planet the environment & the future is to push us down a dark awful route that brings about a global collapse sooner rather than later as in the long run things will improve faster from the ashes of our old/archaic "civilisation". But this would very much wander into the "the ends justify the means" sociopathic worldview. But both seem like two cheeks of the same arse.

Vonskinnback,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@benroyce @nicholas_saunders @rameshgupta these people have always existed, in one form or another, it's just now they can be organised & managed on a global scale & paid for their troubles. They don't really concern me. What actually concerns me is apathy, that is the fastest path to either global collapse or global fascism (both paths look virtually the same) but we are bound by a universal structure that poisons everything, which is the bastardised version of capitalism we all participate in.

Vonskinnback,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@rameshgupta @benroyce @nicholas_saunders choosing to not vote is the same as choosing to not join in with capitalism, it makes you feel morally superior but actually does nothing to improve the situation whatsoever, working to improve those systems that have been forced on us is more likely to encourage more people to join you, well thought out changes are easy to get support for as long as they are promoted as a positive, not an "anti", people get put off by extreme people shouting at them...

Vonskinnback,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@rameshgupta @benroyce @nicholas_saunders there is a reason that "never let the perfect be the enemy of the good" is the truest way to live your life & the best way to bring people with you in real numbers...

Vonskinnback,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@nicholas_saunders @rameshgupta @benroyce the UK (just as the US) has heard the structure of their own democracy creek & groan under the pressures applied to it over the last 16/17 years & though it has sprung a few leaks (on both sides of the Atlantic) it has held pretty strong & there is only so long that people can deny reality before it kicks down your door & slaps you around the face with a gigantic haddock, as is the nature of observable reality...

Vonskinnback,
@Vonskinnback@mastodon.social avatar

@philip_cardella @nicholas_saunders @rameshgupta @benroyce we had Oswald Mosley in the UK, plus some pretty prominent members of the royal family...😬
