Week two of the slow stitch journal. I actually got my "pages" set up over the weekend - it's one long strip of a linen tablecloth, folded accordian style. Each square will be a sneaky pocket so I can journal about this project and tuck the pages into the pockets. The theme this week was "balancing light and dark" and the motif was chosen by K3N on YouTube. #slowstitchwithk3n #slowstitching #handstitching #fiberart

If ONE MORE neurotypical person tells me to clean as I go, set alarms, and make lists, my head is going to explode. NO SUSAN, IT NEVER EVER OCCURRED TO ME TO WRITE A TO DO LIST OR SET A REMINDER ON MY PHONE. AND NO ONE HAS EVER SUGGESTED ANY OF THOSE THINGS TO ME BEFORE. Thank you for fixing my whole life with a few simple suggestions. (I should probably go watch TV now and stop trying to have conversations.)

PNW_Michelle,

@Crazypedia Like do they really think it would be a diagnosable disorder if those things would fix it? Harrumph!

I am inconsistent at all things (including social media) but today, I blogged on my main website! I'm starting up a series of posts on ways to navigate living with ecological grief, especially as people on land-centered spiritual and religious paths. The posts are derived from an article I wrote a few years for an ezine that no longer exists, so a (very) few people might recognize some of the material, but I've added a lot of new thoughts and ideas to expand the original article into a blog series. You can read part 1 here: https://www.michelle-simkins.com/post/wallowing-and-worshiping-living-with-ecological-grief-part-1

I just told my friend "Bones are cozy. Dolls are creepy." with absolute sincerity. And it occurs to me that child-me would be kind of terrified of grown up me. 😂 (But seriously, dolls ARE creepy.)

I should probably watch Labyrinth again soon :bowie_stardust:

PNW_Michelle,

@Crazypedia I was JUST thinking the same thing a couple of days ago, and then I forgot. Thanks for the reminder.

@SavahRellcast Not sure about the pink one, but that purple daisy-like flower looks like some kind of aster.

I have a lot more experience with fetches than familiars and have always found it interesting when people said many of their pets were familiars.

    PNW_Michelle,

@KentuckyConjurer My pets are awesome but they have zero potential as familiars. "You want me to do WHAT?" 😂

    Witches and that sort,

    1. Do you commune with the dead?
    2. What techniques do you use?
    3. Are you comfortable with ghosts/spirits being in your house?

So growing up in rural Kentucky with tons of superstition, we were all raised NOT to have ghosts in our houses. Communication when needed is fine, but the living and the dead have their own places.

Nowadays, many people talk about living in haunted houses and feel very comfortable with this.

    PNW_Michelle,

    @KentuckyConjurer

    1. Yes, I do!
    2. Mostly? I just talk to them and listen. Sometimes, if they are hard to hear, or if I want to connect to a specific spirit, I'll use light trance, and candles never hurt (but also I just like candles). I tend to offer them water, or maybe some flowers, in addition to the flame sometimes. But I'm pretty casual about it.
    3. Yes absolutely. Some of my best friends are dead (not always the human dead, though). I've personally never had a problem with being pestered by the dead, though I've helped a few friends who were having issues.
    PNW_Michelle,

@KentuckyConjurer both. Just depends on the situation. I've been approached by spirits who needed help (usually dead relatives) but have also just gone to them to talk. Personally I find boundaries aren't hard for me because like ... I have a body and they don't? That gives me a lot of options for protecting myself and my space.

My daily morning tarot cards usually take on the lighter, more mundane meanings, so even when I get Death or The Tower, it's never that bad. The one I'm really afraid of in a daily pull is The Hanged Man, dude fucks with me every time. I wonder if this is the same for others?

    PNW_Michelle,

@Cat_LeFey Was JUST having a convo about this with some friends the other day - that ESPECIALLY in divination, personal symbolism is important and needn't match up with the "official" or accepted meanings to be effective. Whether reading for myself or someone else, the conversation is between the divination tool and myself, and what the cards or feda tell me are what matters. The little white book is a great jumping off point but the longer I read, the more I learn to just have the conversation with the divination tool. And the more helpful my readings get, I think.

If you want to know the current state of my house, I just asked the empty living room "why is there peanut butter on the vacuum cleaner cord?". (No, I do not have human children living with me.)
