what's the most absurdly inefficient use of computation you've seen? (non-deliberately that is, things where the person who made it thought it was a sensible design)

I think mine'd be seeing an acquintance proudly show off their automated plant waterer, which was a full raspberry pi running debian which used cron to run a nodejs script every 6 hours. a full linux computer and billions of computational cycles, all to occasionally energise one pin

(no replies about seeing someone use LLMs to do simple maths, too easy for this question)

Here are some random photos I took at ConFuzzled 2024

Table 84 at the hotel bar has an empty chair on one side, and a large pink balloon sitting on the opposite side. The balloon is very patiently waiting for you to join.
A sign in a lift says it’s limited to a capacity of 2 adults at a time. People have added various stickers to the sign, including a label that says “Taxidermy Office”, and someone has drawn an extra 1 to change the limit to “12 adults”. You can also see me taking the photo in the reflection around the sign
A squeezy bottle of Heinz “Seriously Good” mayonnaise has a date label stuck to the front, so it reads “Seriously Five Days - Prep 24/05/24 - Must use by 28/05/24 end of day”. A jar of Colman’s mustard sits next to it.
