I’m one of the few people who thought his Joker was fine. Most versions are heavy on the “clown” and light on the “prince of crime” part. I like seeing him depicted as a gangster rather than just an anarchist, and the modern version of that in Suicide Squad worked for me. The brief scene we get of him in the club has a lot of subtext. You could get an actual sense of how he fit in among and also disrupted the traditional mobs in Gotham by running his own enterprise that threatened them by creating chaos that the other gangs couldn’t adapt to. The only thing I’d get rid of is that “damaged” tattoo on his forehead.
Most of that is independent of Leto’s performance, though, which is… fine.
The only other thing I saw him in was Blade Runner and he was also… fine. More over the top than anything else in the movie so he didn’t really fit in, and he felt tacked on to what would have been a mostly complete movie without him.
I guess that’s it. His performances are fine. Not great, but get a lot more hate because he’s generally known to be an insufferable, arrogant douche in real life.
I definitely tempered my expectations when I heard about that, at least until we know more about what role he’s playing. If he’s the main character, I don’t think he could carry the film and it could definitely suffer as a result. But as a weird, quirky antagonist like in Blade Runner, even if he’s not very good in it the film as a whole could still succeed. Give him a role like Michael Sheen’s in Tron Legacy and he could do alright.
The only act I follow that will be affected is OutsideXbox and their child channels OutsideXtra and Oxventure. Hopefully they get through it unscathed.
It’s a solution looking for a problem. As someone in the comments of the article pointed out, Microsoft spent a lot of money investing in OpenAI and now they’re desperately trying to find a way to justify it.

The comment I’m replying to is an example of why .ml needs to be defederated. Leaving it up to us to block it isn’t enough because their tankie users can still spread their shit.
Please forward this topic to your instance admins as an example of why lemmy.ml needs to be defederated. Yes, they’re a big instance and, no, not every user is like this. But enough of them are that it’s a constant problem that the .ml admins have no interest in stopping because they adamantly support it.
Leaving it up to us to block .ml ourselves is insufficient as the comments on this post perfectly demonstrate. You can’t even point out their Chinese/Russian propaganda and censorship on other instances without being brigaded by .ml users.
They need to be cut off from the rest of the fediverse. The sane users and communities can migrate to better instances. Not wanting to move because it’s inconvenient is no excuse. At a certain point you have to acknowledge you’re hanging out at a nazi bar, and if you stay there when every other sane person is urging you to get out, that’s on you.

I’ve been playing this game off and on, starting over since it came out. I was a hardcore Bloodborne player, but also played a lot of elden ring and ds3. Sekiro never clicked, I thought it was slick and the action felt incredible but I just couldn’t get past the beginning. Finally I’ve broken through and am having a blast,...
I never figured out parrying in Dark Souls or Bloodborne, so I spent the first few hours of Sekiro cheesing enemies by sprinting around them and taking pot shots. This worked up until the Blazing Bull before I got stuck.
I restarted the game, making a point of trying to parry the easier enemies. When I actually tried, I found the timing to be a lot more forgiving than the other games and you can even spam it a bit because the animation is so fast. Once I figured that out, I finally started playing the game correctly and ended up defeating every boss and mini boss.

Not what you’re looking for, but there’s an episode of Doctor Who from the Peter Capaldi era with a very similar plot that might interest you. The episode is called World Enough and Time.
I’d rather get a new Quake game, particularly one following the story from the first game. But if we get another Doom, I’d like something different at least. The formula from nu-Doom and Eternal doesn’t need another go.
