Her entire argument is an appeal to morality. “Gay is bad because it’s immoral.” So when she is then engaging in this ‘immoral’ activity it is relevant: “Even you don’t believe it’s actually immoral, which is your entire argument.”

If they are making bad policy, then focus on that because it’s bad

People are and have been.

Not because the individual doesn’t actually follow it

When the individual is ignoring any arguments on the basis of an Appeal to Authority “Everyone knows this is wrong” then it’s valid to point out “Then why are you doing it?”

If you say it’s bad to kill people, then kill someone, I’m not going to put you in charge of a group with the express purpose of preventing people getting killed. If you found such a group I am going to question their ethics.

None of this is an argument for Homosexuality being wrong or right. If people were saying “she’s having sex with women so sex with women must be okay” then it would be a tu quoque fallacy.

People are pointing out that shes a huge fucking hypocrite. Hypocrisy by itself isn’t an argument for or against anything, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth calling out.

People are attacking her for having bisexual threesoms

People are attacking her for being a hypocrite. “Rules for thee and not for me” is worth pointing out.

Just post the laws from Leviticus right next to them to make it clear nobody follows this.

People are better informed.

Are you upset that people are protesting now? Sure, they should have been protesting before but unless you have a time machine there’s nothing we can do about that.

That’s unfortunate that it’s not a genre you personally are interested in, but it is a popular genre and Valve is a business. Just because it’s not to your tastes doesn’t mean it’s a waste of their talent.

Not even Blizzard is coming out unscathed from Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 didn’t fall because it’s a hero shooter

CileTheSane,
@CileTheSane@lemmy.ca avatar

this is where you say “It failed because…”

Gestures broadly

Not really my responsibility to make an argument for you. Of all the reasons Overwatch 2 might not have performed well, it being a Hero Shooter doesn’t have any strong evidence and you didn’t provide anything showing that was the reason.

One could argue Overwatch 2 being a Hero Shooter is why it didn’t perform worse than it already has, given its problems.

  1. Blizzard is bad at balancing the game - could be true of any game, doesn’t have to be a shooter
  2. Blizzard cancels promised mode - Blizzard being bad at design and following through on promises.
  3. See 1.
  4. Forcing a game to become the sequel, not making meaningful changes other than monetization
  5. See 1
  6. Blizzard made a bad game

None of these are a result of Overwatch 2 being a shooter, and all of them are a result of Blizzard being shit at making quality games, caring about players, and following through on promises. So thank you, you have done a fantastic job demonstrating that Overwatch 2 being a shooter is not the reason it didn’t perform well.

It will achieve nothing other than the first president to

Both candidates have already been president. Or have the Democrats decided not to have Biden run again?

CileTheSane,
@CileTheSane@lemmy.ca avatar

Weren’t you the one complaining people don’t know how to read?

Nobody in this thread is advocating not voting for Biden. The opposite in fact. People are being honest that Biden getting elected is simply treading water, Trump getting elected is sinking.

Of course you vote to not sink, but don’t expect that to improve things. You then continue to do other things that will actually improve things until the next election.

Biden has made progress that you refuse to acknowledge.

Much like how I was advocating for totalitarianism I’m sure…

Republicans Flock to Trump’s Trial, Risking Control of the House Floor (www.nytimes.com)

"The House was in session at the Capitol on Thursday, but thanks to the latest procession of Republicans reporting for duty in front of a Manhattan criminal courthouse to show support for former President Donald J. Trump at his trial, the party risked ceding its control of the floor,” the New York Times reports....

We did it guys! The bar is a millimeter off the floor and we cleared it!

The entire point is to make their existence illegal. Then no matter what they do you can charge them with the excuse of “they shouldn’t have broken the law.”

No no, the boogey man is currently “socialism”

CileTheSane,
@CileTheSane@lemmy.ca avatar

I’m saying “Some places are worse” is not an argument that “This is fine”.

The point being discussed is that this is a terrible law and an example of Mississippi being a shit hole. You are just side tracking the conversation because you don’t understand the function of hyperbole in speech and think talking about how “The US isn’t literally the worst place to live” is somehow a helpful or useful conversation to have in light of the topic art hand.

The US has problems, and insisting that some places are worse is hardly conducive to changing any of that.

CileTheSane,
@CileTheSane@lemmy.ca avatar

I actually agree with you that the MS law is terrible, but trying to push back on the general sentiment of the original comment I replied to

Right: side tracking from the conversation at hand to insist hyperbole is not literal. That does not help and only serves as a distraction.

CileTheSane,
@CileTheSane@lemmy.ca avatar

It’s still a distraction from the topic at hand. I’ll also note that you don’t appear to have any comments in this comment section other than “The US isn’t the worst country” so what is it you think you are adding to the discussion here? Hyperbole is bad because someone might get confused?

CileTheSane,
@CileTheSane@lemmy.ca avatar

Well you approached me a poor attempt at an insult, so of course I’m going to be receptive to what you’re trying to say… /s
