When I was in a mental hospital when I was a teenager (after but not directly related to my suicide attempt), I met someone my age that was there that just instantly clicked with me. What I needed more than anything was someone to talk to and feel comfortable around, and they were that. I was there less than a week but we hugged when I was leaving like we’d known each other all our lives.
I don’t know why we never exchanged contact information (it might have been forbidden by the hospital? Hard to recall), but I think about that at least once a year and am happy to have met them.
The fact I’ll die alone without ever feeling the love of a woman besides my mother and without a child saddens me. So, as kind of a consolation, I want to know… How does it feel? Being in love and being together, the sex part, just living together and all that…
Have you spoken to a therapist about these feelings? Things like depression can make negative thoughts seem much more real and reasonable than they actually are.
I mean, if you’re terminally ill and dying next week I guess it’s possible those are realistic thoughts. But if that’s not the case then that sounds much more like doom spiraling to me.
Assuming you’re in the US since you mention cost. I know therapy can be really hard to access, especially if you don’t have good insurance and/or aren’t close to an urban area. Your city or county may have mental health services like low cost therapy, or be able to give you referrals for it.
You do seem like you want to talk about it, I’m assuming anyway since you made this post. A good therapist that you vibe with is going to be someone you want to talk to just as much (if not more) than anyone on this post, and they’ll be able to bring up perspectives on your thoughts you hadn’t considered before.
You don’t have to do it if you don’t want to obviously, and if you live in a place with really terrible mental health services there’s not really anything you can do about that. But if the feelings you’re describing in your OP are something that’s upsetting you that you want to change, I’d encourage you to do what you can to try to access therapy.
I would love to stop having, not sure if they would technically be termed as flashbacks or PTSD-related anxiety attacks, but either way if those came with an off button that would be great.
Upside: sometimes my smart watch thinks I did an hour of exercise while I’m actually just sitting there with a heart rate of 120+ and it congratulates me 🥰
If that doesn’t count because it’s something I can’t really control, then probably picking at my cuticles. Bad habit I’ve had since I was a toddler that I’ve never been able to fully kick.
We can’t ignore that there are other ways of doing it besides credit scores or overt racism. Some countries have no credit scores at all and just base loan eligibility on your salary and employment history.
Sorry, I’m not sure how to answer “how is measuring your credit worthiness based on your income a good way to determine how much to lend you.” I would think it’s pretty obvious that your capacity to repay a loan is dependent on your current income, not how many loans and credit cards you’ve had active in the past.
I think they’re referencing the idiom “closing the barn door after the horse has bolted”, ie taking a measure after it’s too late to accomplish anything.
I broadly agree with your comment and wanted to add this since it’s a common misconception: Georgia is a purple state with a suppressed vote, not a red state. In addition to gerrymandering and frequent voter roll purges, people in urban areas commonly wait hours in line to vote in fewer polling stations than existed in previous years. And that’s not even taking into account things like criminalizing handing out water to people waiting to vote in line.
There are probably worse states to try to vote, but I wouldn’t think there are that many.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to give the impression that I was open to debate over whether it’s homophobic to deny a politician spouting homophobia (when he literally admitted he did so) and deny that a pastor called LGBTQ+ movement demonic when there is video of it (did you even read the second link to this thread? You still seem to think there was only one thread). It is homophobic, full stop.
There is not a non-homophobic reason to go to multiple threads about LGBT people having bigotry aimed at them and to deny that it’s happening.
So if you could explain to me how homophobia doesn’t violate the rules I’d appreciate it.

Unfortunately that doesn’t fit the real world experience of LGBT people dealing with homophobia.
If you need help understanding why calling the LGBT community demonic is homophobic or why denying that bigoted speech against LGBT people even happens is homophobic you can ask for help at any time. Multiple times I’ve offered to educate you (which you are clearly not interested in). You denied that saying the LGBT community is demonic is even homophobic itself, by hand waving it away as Christian theology (as though the two are unrelated to begin with, much less exclusive). I did not say the user specifically said that. I’m saying that excusing and denying it is not a significant difference. Please at least read what I’m saying if you’re going to condescendingly explain to me what homophobia is.

I’m saying that defending that statement by denying that it even happened or saying that it’s not homophobic because it’s a Christian theological point are themselves forms of homophobia that LGBT people encounter all the time. The Blahaj admins had no problems instantly recognizing the account for what it was and banning them as well as removing the homophobic comments. I don’t think I’m imagining homophobia here as you’re implying.
