In our country sms were free in the first few years of early 2000s, then the telcos learned. And now its paid per message.

Though nobody uses sms anymore, since FB is free and so is messenger, even if you don’t have data available.

I dont think you’ve taken into account what people in lemmy value the most.

Their principles. They mostly joined lemmy because one of their principle is against big corp controlling us for their own purpose.

That’s why threads is being blocked preemptively. Because they are corpo. Now compare that to exploding heads instance. The slowness of blocking another instance because of hate speech and bigotry. It’s because exploding heads issue does not or barely touched most lemmy peoples principle trigger. They allowed it to exist first for a long time before even considering of blocking it

It’s dying. An event that was literally unthingkable a few months ago and was probably unachievable a few weeks ago.

Little by little, reddit is crumbling. The number of userbase doesn’t matter now. If the spam bots overtake reddit, then it’s over for them.

It is not. But 10 usd for 3 months is so worth it for me when you compare it to subscribing to every other platform.

Also it is direct streaming from their server. Not from torrent. If I remember correctly. So you will not be affected if your isp is throttling torrents.
