@Brain @Travon333 JD has so much more potential than we've seen yet. At NXT he was always a top contender. On the main roster he's a clown. I'm disappointed, but he's a professional.

@squaredcircle is there a way to not have the sublemmy(?) boost every comment and just the top level posts? We end up getting all the replies boosted as posts, which makes it weird and shows no context. Lemmy replies do show as replies on Mastodon so that part is good. Don't know if that's something that can be affected on a community level or if it's something that is managed at the instance level or Lemmy as a piece of software.

Seems like @squaredcircle lives on in the Mastodon side of the Fediverse? I thought Lemmy didn't federate outside of Lemmy and Kbin instances, but apparently that's changed! Let's see how this implementation goes.

AEW Continental title to be put up annually in Classic tournament (www.f4wonline.com)

In an interview that debuted prior to Dynamite, Khan said that whoever holds the title after November’s annual Full Gear pay-per-view will get an automatic spot in the Classic. However, the titleholder will have to win the tournament final at December’s Worlds End PPV in order to keep their championship....

@Neon_Carnivore @GeekFTW I don't mind a title being reset every year with a tournament and otherwise working like a regularly championship. I forgot that the rankings were back, in which case it does matter more that Okada got a shot out of nowhere. However, I don't feel like they've referenced the rankings that much in general. Still not convinced they're a good idea, but I'm open to seeing more.

Bang Bang Scissor Gang was a neat idea, but with no feud against the Undisputed Kingdom there wasn't much holding them together.

I really enjoyed Elimination Chamber. Every match was great on its own. However, here is criticism because it's becoming a trend.

  • Match results were too predictable.
  • Why does a four hour PLE only have four matches and a talk show? (1/?)

The matches themselves were great, but they're not made that much better by having long entrances for each wrestler. Should it be longer than regular TV? Sure. But not so long that if you add up all the entrances you could squeeze in another match. And then I know match time was traded for showing ads. If I remember correctly we barely used to see ads on PLEs and now they're common filler. (2/6)

In general there is so much filler and none of it adds to the awesomeness that you could have instead by giving us more matches. Imagine paying WrestleMania ticket prices for four matches? (3/6)

While the matches themselves were great, they all had strong favorites to win. We knew the likeliest winners were Becky, Judgement Day, Drew, and Rhea. I'm not upset with the victors, but you could at least try to make it ambiguous rather than promoting these guys' WrestleMania matches before Elimination Chamber (Becky vs Rhea or Drew vs Seth). If you push other wrestlers to also be feuding with the champs at the same time then it's less predictable. Imagine if LA Knight and Randy Orton also got some words in to Seth? Then it would have been less clear who will win. (5/6)

For now I give this PLE a B. It was good and I don't want to downplay the wrestling, but I don't like the trend WWE is going down. I think this kind of thing is valid criticism that can push people to watch other promotions as well. It doesn't feel like the WrestleMania matches are predictable at least, so that works in the favor of this event. With as many wrestlers as they have, please don't show me eight matches across two nights... (6/6)

@BeAware I think if we had six matches it would have been a better balance. Swap the talk show for a match and then reduce the filler and ads for another match. I agree that the matches we did get were good and I wouldn't change them.

This was the scary spot from last night's where Madison Rayne got dropped directly on her head by Deonna Purrazzo.

You hate to see stuff like this. I was really worried that Rayne may have received a significant neck injury or concussion.

Dunno if it was ring-rust or what, but the match overall was pretty sloppy.

Video of a pro wrestling match between Madison Rayne and Deonna Purrazzo, in which Purrazzo executes a modified flatliner on Rayne. The move is clearly botched, as Rayne lands directly on the mat head-first without any protection.

@GeekFTW hold up. The title says that TNA is extending the contract, but the graphic says he resigned. Which is it? Normally it doesn't matter because you probably want to stay at your wrestling promotion, but in this case I wonder if this is Anthem keeping Josh Alexander on lock? Idk, I'm just sus about everything they do now, lol.

@JelloBrains @GeekFTW to be honest, I can see why TNA want to keep him if they can. I kind of don't blame them. But from a talent management standpoint it's not a good indicator of how he feels about the state of things. It arguably looks worse if they let Josh leave because it sets a precedent that Anthem will let you leave. But you can't treat people like assets on a spreadsheet.

Real solution is rehiring Scott D'Amore.
