Today in Dwarf Fortress: The Sinister Start in the Plane of Myth, were gonna stream the setting up of some tree and obsidian farms.
My next goal is to get a cheap and easy supply of wood going for my fort. Wandering outside is too risky due to the smelly goo threatening to send my fortress into a tantrum spiral. So we're heading underground to set up a tree farm. It's a real pain to set this up but it will be worth it.

I keep sending them outside to build the outside fort and they are getting fed up. But not to worry, I finished the roof so now they con complete their work in a smelly goo-free environment. Or, at least until I decide to build the fishing hut.
Today on Dwarf Fortress: The Sinister Start in the Plane of Myth, we hit magma! We're producing green glass and are working towards kicking off our steel industry. Just in time, too, because we're now a County and the Count wants fancy rooms! I hope he likes steel walls.
We're upgrading our fortress defenses and will be building an above-ground fort pretty soon, provided the smelly goo doesn't drive everyone mad!

We're kind of ignoring petitions for now so no guild halls or specialized temples until we get our furnaces up and running.
Today on Dwarf Fortress: The Sinister Start in the Plan of Myth, we captured our first goblin invasion force of child snatchers. We'll be sure to melt their armor before tossing them into the magma pits. But fist, we need to build the magma pits.
A Dwarven caravan is on its way and the migrants are arriving en mass. We need to get our magma industry going soon and let the steel flow!
Today, in our sinister start of Dwarf Fortress, the search for more iron ore continues. We found it, but it's locked away in a light aquifer! But no worries, we just need to provide some adequate drainage and we should be fine. What's the worst that could happen?
Our embark on sinister soil has had a bit of a slow start, so I hope we have enough items for our trading caravan to supply us with food and other assorted items for the next year.
We are constantly getting covered in malodorous goo and it's making our dwarves cranky. But outside of that it's not too bad, as long as our goblin neighbors don't invite themselves to our fort too soon. We need to set up cage traps first. 😁
So I bought #DwarfFortress on Steam and the main thing I want to try about Adventure Mode is bring the goddamn cotton or hemp seeds/plants to my fortress 😝
Today we are striking the Earth. With our embark preparations completed in our sinister biome, we begin the search for iron and the magma we will use to power our forges! What threats do we face in the wilderness? We don't know yet, but I'm sure we will find out.
Tonight on Dwarf Fortress, The Plane of Myth: a new world with some tweaked parameters. I'll be settling on an embark site and choosing a Dwarven civilization to help me take over the region. Will it work? Hard to tell, but it's worth a shot.
Today: #DwarfFortress Volcano Embark, but with economic milestones cranked up to 10x their original values. This will likely make the game a little unbalanced, but that's OK. This is Dwarf Fortress. Unbalanced is how we roll.
Tomorrow: I have a technical stream planned. I'll be setting up a CMS that will be adding support for ActivityPub this year and I want to see how it works.
It's Dwarf Fortress again. We're going to try a volcano start again, but this time in an ancient world (2000 years). This embarkhas tons of tetrahedrite so we'll have plenty of copper and silver. Maybe we can get an obsidian farm going here while we're at it.
I'll also try some experiments with Adventure Mode on this map so we'll see how that works out.
I'm back with more shenanigans. We found enough dirt to plot our farms, but how we need to pen our llamas underground. Gotta keep them safe! Also, we need to get our industry up and running. So much to do, so little time!
All right, tomorrow I will stream some Dwarf Fortress. I generated a 2000 year old world and found a pretty sweet volcano embark. I tried using the same seeds as before but there have been some changes to world generation since the last patch so I got a different map. There are still plenty of good spots, though.
It felt good to get the evil embark done though. I'll know what I'm getting into next time.
Problem: We have a bunch of undead rhinos corpses hanging out and goring visitors in the periphery of our embark area. Solution: Catapults (this might backfire).
Our sinister embark is coming along nicely though we did lose a trading caravan last night and we almost lost a dwarf demanding "bones". We're going to expand our industry and fight back against those pesky zombie creatures. I'm sure nothing bad will happen. I swear.
We have a fort humming along just nicely. The undead creatures are mostly keeping to themselves but they do occasionally harass the visitors. Our axe dwarves are pretty good at keeping them down though the severed parts like to reanimate occasionally.
After a couple of healthy migration waves we need to set up a proper home now. Hospital, temple, and a tavern are on the list, but also bedrooms. Time to get settled in!
We're back! We have a necromancer metalsmith in a strange mood so we'd better do something about that. We'll then finish up the bedrooms and get the for set up for magma forges hopefully. All the silver and copper!
Today we'll be embarking on an evil biome! It's a sinister region with reanimating qualities, so we're in for a lot of !FUN!. But on the other hand, we have tons of copper and silver to mine. I'm sure it will be fiiiine. :D
After lunch and a shower I'll be kicking off a new Dwarf Fortress campaign, starting in a Sinister biome. This will be my first evil biome embark in several years. I know from previous test runs that my choice of embark will be an undead one. Corpse ogres and rhinos will be roaming the area so I'll need to work quickly to get everyone to safety.
And then we'll have nearly unlimited copper and silver to work with, in addition to some zinc.

New Beta, hot off the presses. While this game does have Adventure Mode enabled, I 'll play Fortress mode for now. At some point I'll retire the fort and wander around in it. Maybe recruit some of my own army? Go to war with the goblins? Anything is possible!
I decided to embark in a sinister biome. It's kinda spooky but it has so much copper and silver! Also a bit of zinc too because why not. Brass for everyone!!!
If we can survive this place we will be swimming in wealth. Also, maybe we can knock down that goblin fortress nearby... 🤔
I've been looking around with the Dwarf Fortress Adventure Mode beta last night. Right now it's fun to derp around in but it's missing a few key features (like you can't craft your own food and there's no trading system).
I will kick of a new fort in the new world because there were some additions to fort mode as well. I generated a crazy world with tons of healthy dwarven civs. I saved that seed because there are some fun possibilities in there. 😉
