Designing for non-rectangular browser windows

How I miss the days when phone manufacturers were innovative. Nowadays everything is just a boring black rectangle.

I imagine that this (concept) device would probably just put the browser only on one row / column. Probably sensible, but utterly BORING!

Let's imagine

dominicsayers,

@Edent This made me think of the Wasp T12 but now I look back it had a boring square screen

Trashbat dot cock?

dominicsayers,

@Edent That's the one

woo,

@Edent A pentagon, surrounded by 5 hexagons, so they could tessellate over curved surfaces. I just bought a motion sensor for a Pi. I'm 'really annoyed' (in reality, slightly miffed) that they used only hexagons for the domed cover.

@Edent I can see good reasons for keeping paragraphs rectangular, but I wonder whether non-rectangular phones could usefully use elements outside the main rectangular text block for additional useful information or controls - like the ones on The Expanse

hand terminal from The Expanse, with a rectangular content area, and additional sets of controls off to the left and right
