I get so messed up trying to learn 3D art. I get torn between feeling under-inspired when putting prefabbed stuff together in UE5 & get bored, & feeling overwhelmed being completely incompetent with Blender. I have wanted so badly to do this for so long but get defeated quick. :/ #ue5 #unreal #blender #3d #3dart

@EposVox Everyone keeps recommending blender guru donut tutorial in the beginner 3d spaces. may i offer a counter recommendation: Grant Abbott's "Low Poly Well" tutorial. when I first tried getting into blender thru the donut tutorial it was too frustrating after a couple video parts and I eventually gave up. the Well tutorial was SO much more beginner friendly and smooth, and even offers a simple challenge in between to really utilize what you've learned. Cant recommend it enough!!!

Doesn't help that Blender is just genuinely hard to learn. I have picked up all number of creative programs over the years, and I can usually intuit my way through all of them; experience compounding. Blender? HAH.

Hilariously, I have plenty of ideas and techniques for how to post-process renders from Blender to make the exact style I want. Just not the ability to create them lol

@EposVox I worked on Maya from 1996 - 2002, mostly writing animation related code. I knew how it worked and implemented new features requested by customers and expert users that they liked and used to get amazing results. Lots of ideas that I could execute in code.

Me animating something as a user? Well I could make a sphere orbit a cube...

@EposVox I've made several attempts throughout the years to learn Blender, and it never quite sticks. It's HARD.

fuhrizzy,

@EposVox you’ve probably already heard of it, maybe even done it. I’m not sure how much you know about Blender currently, but for me the donut tutorial series by Blender Guru was a great way to start learning the software.
