I'm not entirely sold on #Threads. It's great as a "Fuck You" to Twitter, but I think I need more reason to use an app than just pure spite. #Mastodon isn't perfect, but at least I'm in control.
@enusbaum there was someone who posted recently saying something like “why is everyone so eager to jump right into the next new social land grab created by billionaire tech moguls” and that’s a vibe that just doesn’t matter to most people, unfortunately.
Nerds care about owning their content, the way it’s stored, and whether the code displaying it is open-source or not, but most people do not care about any of that :-(
