f15h, 5 months ago One of the oldest still operational computers I have is a #ThinkPad #R61i, a #budget ThinkPad I bought probably around 2008, soon after #Lenovo took over #IBM's #laptop business. I dust off the #computer about once per year to run an #update on #ArchLinux. As you can see in the #screenshot, it still runs #KDE and #Wayland on a recent #kernel. Unfortunately, it requires #Nvidia's #proprietary drivers. So, now tell me again which #hardware is required for a recent #Windows (#Windows11). 😉

mrundkvist, 4 months ago @f15h I read somewhere that businesses swap out their Windows machines every four years on average, their Linux machines every six. I run Linux and I only swap machines when they break down mechanically beyond reasonable repair.
