Imagine knowing its the last time you’re going to speak to someone. My uncle died yesterday and i had only spoken to him a week ago and told him i would call when I’m back from my trip with work.
Knowing would be much weirder. How would your call have been if you knew he would die a few days later? Being optimistic and assuming there’s a future is the better option IMO.
Anyway: sorry for your loss. Don’t punish yourself for that call.
