What was the last Roguelite you played and how would you rate it?

Just to start things off here:
I recently tried Rogue Legacy 2 for the first time. (Not having played the first one).

I haven't finished it yet, but I'm really enjoying the overall game feel, tight controls, enemy variety, and the fact that you can choose where to go on a particular run, not having to grind through the whole map every time, and it creates this sort of high risk - high reward gameplay if you choose to attempt later-game stuff earlier on a run.

Although I'm not a huge fan of how slow the progression is. A lot of retries with basically no change between them in terms of meta-progression, because later upgrades are almost always too expensive. Having access to so many distinct classes helps with this though.

Overall, I recommend it if you're into the platformer side of roguelites. About 8/10 in my book.

Spelunky 2 takes the cake for me. The learning curve is steep. You’ll die constantly, you’ll swear the game is bullshit, but if you keep playing eventually you’ll notice yourself getting better and better.

There is so much to this game. Eventually you’ll learn about the cosmic ocean and how to get there, but that’s not good enough. If you want to beat the true ending of the game, you’ll need to learn various complex “skips” to conserve resources and maximize your chances of getting to the final area.

I’m nearly 600 hours in, and I still haven’t beaten the true ending of the game. I will someday, I just have to get better.

10/10. It is a perfect game.

Oh, you just reminded me that I want to try Spelunky as well, haha. I had my eye on it for pretty long. If I'm not mistaken the first Spelunky was the first game that combined platformers and roguelites. I remember seeing an interview with the developer where he talked about this.
Thanks for the suggestion.

erm does Hades count? I don't really keep up on the specifics of genre. Anyway -Hades for me, if it counts.

Although on reading the sidebar there, I see that maybe "Array Game" might count, too. Been playing that for the past week or so.

Hades definitely counts, it's one of my personal favorites in the genre.
