@peckishly @donmelton bitter laugh I tried this trick but profoundly screwed up by doing well on an early #IQ test, so I was tagged a #gifted underachiever throughout my childhood. Cue the lifetime #anxiety, #depression, #perfectionism, and lack of #SelfEsteem.

My story is similar, though not as profound. My habitual mistake was to interview well above my actual abilites, get hired, and soon begin the inexorable transition from "brilliant" to "mediocre" in the eyes of my peers and supervisors. I definitely had the anxiety, depression, and lack of self esteem of which you speak.
