@whitequark capacitors are nature's prank on engineers. You just isolate two conductors from each other, put more charge in one than the other, and they are now a capacitor
@whitequark (this is also why a microphone on its own inside a house will pick up that 50 Hz hum; because the mic and the wiring inside the walls form a giant capacitor together)
