It's funny how I often feel incredibly uncomfortable here because I can’t really talk about generative AI, OpenAI stuff, innovation etc… because some of the crowd is just toxic about it.
Even on X, you don’t get that kind of people flaming in your mentions because they think they’re on such a high horse.
I can have whatever opinion I want and you need to calm down.
Get over it. Generative AI is here to stay and so many workflow and tools will get improved because of it.
@dimillian The main complaints seem to center on the wholesale downloading of training data regardless of digital rights best practices, massive power and water consumption, and limited usefulness. Those seem like reasonable issues to me.
Oh, and I missed one- the absolute flood of bad information making it harder to find answers to simple questions. It's like someone invented a firehose that spews foamed plastic to build with, but instead it mists trash over everything
@dimillian I know. It’s a tool and we need to get over that. I don’t like how some of the companies got their data but that is separate from the tool and needs to be discussed separately
@dimillian Tbh, in this instance it was initially you to take the high horse with a, sorry to say that, nonsense argument. And I figure, that was the reason for the backlash you have received. Not having an echo chamber inside a certain bubble doesn‘t mean everyone is coming after you in a mean way.
@dimillian You are right, there’s a lot of condemnation on Mastodon and a desire to show superiority. I think I’ve done it in the past but hope I’ve learned to be better.
@dimillian Though I don't think its fair people go after you for being excited and talking about it, it's tough for many to get excited about it when they see their life skills get diluted in real time, in a way they'll never be able to compete with in a few years time.
@dimillian I'm genuinely interested if you'd post about this topic. I know it may be hard but you should not bother about toxic minority: most reader are silent and don't want to bother you.
@dimillian I do think it's a pandora's box that will fuckup humanity. but i won't trash on you because of it, that's so dumb 😂 quite the opposite, i like seeing the good parts of it and you show those so keep sharing your opinions ❤️
@dimillian Noticed this too! Other similar problems here: CW policing, ALT text exclusionists, anti-science activism in some areas of knowledge. I fear mention the areas as I am not ready to enter the discussion again. And of course AI is evil.
