@danilo Valleywag was excellent (I'm also biased @owenthomas - who is not really active here alas - is a friend and my former editor in college) but he and the others at Valleywag did a fantastic and much needed job covering tech.
But yes, it is sad that the horrible people seem to have in many ways "won" - I think there are plenty of exceptions but they get far less (attention, money, news cycles, followers etc)
@danilo when "greed is good" became a non-ironic motto and people used research on dark patterns as a trailblaze and not a warning, the grief of seeing the bad guys win by following the instructions we specifically meant as cautionary warnings was christened as "fucking techbros"
@danilo what's so wild about that era is that even the supposedly good people were partially in on the grift. Even Valleywag itself had third rails it wouldn't touch because that would threaten their funding model.
@danilo You never saw them go after the egregious law firms, for example. The music industry was dumping tons of money and harassing tons of people in tech and it never got touched.
Also think about other outlets. E.g., the actual arc of MVC for example. Just wild stuff.
