Just got groceries delivery today and I realised just how much soft packaging are still being used everywhere even for things that don't need it like bread. Soft plastics aren't everywhere and most will surely end up in a landfill. How is this OK?

holgerschurig,

@etenil You can of course get your bread from a bakery. Here (Germany) it will then just be stuffed into a paper bag.

Also, we now have some (few!) "Unverpackt Laden" ("Un-packaged Store"). You bring your own transport, e.g. glass jars, and then put the things they have to directly into it. No packaging at all.

Bad thing however is that instead of being cheaper (the plastics package costs are non-negligible!), they usually ask for more. Because they only sell the highest bio (organic) grade.
