@cliffle not sure if this is making me feel good that i didn't get a Framework (bad QA!) or bad that i didn't get a framework (i get to do QA on hardware for free! i get to observe exciting process failures, hopefully!!)

@whitequark I suspect I'm going to wind up really liking this laptop once they send me working components. It's just frustrating for now.

As for the power optimization, I do this to all my computers, I'm just warped that way.

@cliffle oh no don't get me wrong, I got the power management on this Dell laptop down into single watts by fiddling with tlp

... then discovered it doesn't seem to do self-refresh in a reasonable way and discharges in like 12h while in S3. oops

@whitequark the surprising solution for my Ryzen Thinkpad was: go into the BIOS and set suspend to "windows 10."

There's a modern suspend mode that Linux didn't used to support, and that fact got fossilized into bioses. Claiming to be windows enables it.

AMD-specific though, I believe.

@cliffle s2idle? I think I tried using that on this laptop and it just panics or hangs the kernel somewhere during that process
