It’s always so fun to be awakened by a loud mystery noise at 4am and be up for an hour trying to figure it out. We’re in the middle of a wind advisory here in So. Calif.
@GottaLaff My mystery noise last night was a nervewracking thump-scraaaape-thumpety-scraaape-scraape-thump-THUMP.-scraaaaape....Turned out to be a large empty box being blown down the driveway, intermittently airborne then landing with a THUMP. #windstorm. After the #brushwithdeath windstorm last month, we're on edge.
It happened during the day for me, but a while back strong winds blew the spark arrestor off the top of our chimney. Huge noise, but I couldn't figure out where from.
Then I found it on the ground later, and it took a minute or two to remember/figure out what the heck it was, where the heck it came from, and then realize that it was what had caused the noise five minutes ago.
So I guess I'm saying, the odds are low, but if you've got a chimney, have you looked on top yet? 🧐
@chefraven We love the weather in Canada. I think it's nicer there, meaning, the rain stops and goes, so it's no biggie, and everything smells so fresh all the time. And it's not half as bad as everyone warned, which I figured and even wrote about in my blog about moving. @rabbijill
@chefraven@rabbijill@GottaLaff we were returning home to NorCal yesterday, heading north on I-5, and the gas mileage was ~5mpg worse than normal because if the headwinds.
Riding my bike this morning - not enjoying it! Me = Hammy
@GottaLaff I know the feeling. A few weeks ago our grandson's trampoline blew over the fence on our backyard. We get some powerful winds here in the front range of Colorado.
@rdnielsen This wasn't a quake. Trust me. I've lived in CA my whole life. The noise sounded like a door closing hard. No shaking. Then we heard a thump later. No shaking. As I said, there's a wind advisory. Gale force winds.
