@bjo I think my main question that I don't yet quite know the answer to is whether hosting.de supports wildcard records with DynDNS. (The docs don't explicitly cover this case.)
Do you know? I asked their support, but, uh, they're currently on a deserved weekend I hope :)
(That'd be easiest, since I'm already a customer for other services.)
@larsmb Most should support it. Right now I use it with namecheap and do.de and it works fine. Only requirement towards the registrart is, that DNSSEC needs to be supported.
@larsmb fair. i don't share that tradeoff, but there are certainly different reasonable tradeoffs to be made.
(fwiw: while i believe we're on the same page that blockchain stuff is a net detriment to the world, i don't consider boycotting anyone who interacts with it a top priority.
there are many vile things in the world, and boycotting blockchain-association is not at the top of my list.
no ethical consumption under capitalism.)
@hko Fair. The no-.de is a bit of a more significant block since I have a couple of those domains. The crypto block is more of a "I'll take whatever criterion to narrow down the choice paralysis" one.
Also, I'm miffed because had I thrown my ethics out the window the last time I considered buying Bitcoin, I could now retire and pontificate about how evil they are. Morals really get in the way of being rich.
