@mcnees@pluralistic Update: now every machine that I have seen on campus in the last few hours has had its guerilla sticker/masking tape replaced with an official (?) University of Waterloo sticker.
@AstroMikeHudson@mcnees@pluralistic seems like a missed opportunity to do some experiments approaching with photos of different faces and seeing how the presentation changes each time.
If nothing else messing up their algorithm would've been fun. Maybe everyone who approaches having the same face?

@mcnees this is a other reason why I wear masks sunglasses and hats in public. The only privacy you get from the tech industry is the privacy you make for yourself.
I'm sure there's an English version of this, but it's literally in the press texts of what the machines can do. OK, they don't say "face recognition", they say then know which gender and age a person is approaching the machine to show them products they supposedly prefer...
