#Pater (aka patil, pastil in #Maguindanao) is definitely a popular meal in this city. Downtown, there's a stall on almost every street corner, and in-between.
It consists of a fist-sized ball of rice, topped with kagikit. The sauteed, halal protein (fish, chicken, beef), that goes on top of it. The kagikit adds (salty) flavor to what would've otherwise been bland rice, then molded and wrapped in banana leaf.
@gowin@takam@pinoy Oh my god, this is one of my favorites! My partner makes a really, REALLY good pastil, but without the banana leaf since it's quite impossible to find here in the city.
@gowin@takam@pinoy Sometimes she would plate it beautifully, making it look like it was wrapped in a banana leaf. But we would usually just cook the kagikit and rice separately. Her version of pastil is quite saucy which is why prefer hard boiled eggs kasi mas masarap isawsaw yung yolk 😆
