A killer app for Apple Vision Pro: replace the view of the user's eyes displayed on the front screens with empty eye sockets (eerie blue glow optional).
@girlinblack Yeah, that'd be good, only (I NEED TO RANT AT NEAL 40 YEARS AGO, IT'S TOO LATE NOW!) dying stars don't glow faintly, they go supernova and briefly outshine an entire galaxy, or if they're too small for that (but still larger than a red dwarf, like our sun) they expand into a red giant, have a helium-burning hot flush (brightening a billionfold) then blast their outer layers into deep space forming a stellar nebula around a white dwarf. All kinda spectacular until they're a corpse!
(I haven’t checked the dev docs, but I’m sure there’s no API for apps to change the outside display. Apple has a consistent sense of “you don’t need to mess with that, so you can’t mess with that.”)
@zarfeblong Heard a great comment from @siracusa on #atp pointing out the at if this had been a thing in the classic Mac era we would already have a dozen apps to change the eyes to cartoon eyes, disable them, etc… And we’d get a lot more info on how people think this feature should work.
@cstross The thing is that the display is so dim nobody would even notice unless they were really close and looked really hard. It's remarkable how lame that display is.
