@cheeaun again me with questions. when you find a toot like this one and like this other one:

https://fosstodon.org/@bignose/111775074307968376

do you do anything in particular when:

a) showing the toot in the timeline; and
b) when showing the toot's context on the right?

I have the impression that you somehow figure out it's another toot and do things differently to any other type of link. How do you figure that out?

@mdione sorry I don't quite get your question. Are you referring to the presentation of the post?

@cheeaun presentation and behaviour. Say toot A has a link. If the link is an arbitrary URL, and I click on either the link or preview, I get a new tab with the site. But if the url is of a toot B, first, the preview shows the whole toot, at least when showing toot A on the right; and second, if I click the link or preview, then toot B is shown on the right. How do you figure out it's a toot and not an arbitrary URL?

@mdione it's a combination of checking the URL pattern for possible toots and then making remote API calls in the background. It could be a false positive or the toot is not public.

@cheeaun I guess the is something like https://(domain)/@(username)/(toot_id). Do you remember where in/can you point me to your code that does this?
