Notice how the right wingers who banned Black people from schools, jobs, military, & public spaces, banned Latino & Asian immigration, locked up Japanese Americans, broke hundreds of treaties with Native Americans—& are now banning teaching that history—want you to stop making everything about race.😐

#louisarmstrong tapes reveal how racism scarred his life

Audio diaries tell of the #jazz giant’s anger over the #prejudice he faced

“Hearing him in his own words – hearing hurt, hearing pain, hearing him curse – is going to be the first time many folks have ever experienced this side of Louis Armstrong. What’s important is that he is the one who left behind these tapes, so he really wanted this side to be known.

treynunya1,

@QasimRashid The internment caps were the product of FDR a progressive democrat. The Jim Crow laws were from democrats.

@treynunya1 yes congrats on recognizing the right wingers of yesteryear were democrats. Today they’re republicans.

@QasimRashid
They still want to make everything about race, e.g. Christopher Rufo's and Bill Ackman's questioning of Claudine Gay's credentials and assertion that her race was the determining factor in her appointment. They just don't want others to point out their racial injustice and white supremacy.

rouxdoo,

@QasimRashid I wish you were a candidate that I could vote for. Parley up your beginning to an office I can support via a vote and you have it from me, sir. I wish you good fortune and success.

It's bound to backfire, I think. My seventh-grade Utah history textbook had only one paragraph, and one picture, about the Japanese-American internment camp at Topaz. That led me to want to know more. It led me to Dorothea Lange's photos of the internment (which were impounded by the US army, while Ansel Adams' patriotic photos were circulated). It led me to reading Mine Okubo's "Citizen 13660." It led me to visiting the site myself.
