I was reading #Quantumphysicsforbabies to my 3 year old last night and made the mistake of using his magnets as an ex of + and - charge (ie protons and electrons). He asked the obv question "Papa why don't the elec stick to the prot?" and I tried to explain that they are too fast etc, but it made me think. Why don't the elec stick to the prot? I realize that elec have energy and thus orbit, but elec gain and loose energy all the time why not to the min energy state of 0?
