@Terra for me the answer was routine. make everything in my life a routine and suddenly it wasn't such a huge ball and chain i was dragging everywhere anymore
@Terra I left a high-demand religion a few years ago, after which some locked-down identities emerged. I did autism first, some others, and now trans. I feel you strongly with "give me a chance to breathe". After each one I thought "ok now I'm done and I got all my identities right?" But no, brain-body keeps finding new ones.

@Terra I mean. I wasn't going to assume or anything, but that's Really Common for girls like us. Working through a lot of that is a lot of the shit that I've been writing about. 😅
@Terra Same here with many neurodivergent people in general. I have this "there are bits and pieces in my ice cream, I can't eat this" too! People don't understand why I don't like Ben&Jerry's. Yes, it tastes great. But there are cookie pieces etc. in the ice cream.
On the other hand I'm very good at sensing people's emotions, reading their face or understanding metaphorical phrases. But they often make me chuckle, because I visualize them literally and find the picture hilarious. So, hm 🤔
@Terra Yes! We have a discount market chain (Aldi) that I still can't go through. In the past they had bad air conditioning and just the smell when I entered… detergents, a baking machine… the mix made me gag.
When I described this to my wife she was surprised. Yes, she smelled it too. But so what? 😐
@Terra it might be helpful at this point to hear that some research suggests the LGBTQ+ community is around 6 times as likely to be autistic as cishet folks are. & likewise autistic people are far more likely to be queer, especially trans. So if you start noticing a lot of overlap in your communities, you're not projecting LOL. 😆
