I have been growing cuttings of Thai Basil because the mother basil plant started dying, and this morning I noticed that in the cup I was growing the cuttings in, a bunch of tiny balls of algae have started growing.

I've never seen algae grow like this other than marimo moss balls, but I can't imagine any way that marimo would have gotten into this cup. Very mysterious.

One thing I do miss about twitter is that if I posted something like this, someone would tag an algaeologist, who would show up in the replies and tell me exactly what the balls are

But what if most of the people who deal with slime & scum for a living, can't take the state of #Twitter & have left appalled. 😉

@ArtBear I'm not suggesting that they are over there giving out free knowledge still. I'm saying I miss having that kind of interaction. It was special and now it's gone

ArtBear,

@MLE_online
there's probably a #hashtag for it...
Does anyone know a hashtag for algae expertise?
#Algae #Slime #Slimetodon or something 🤔
