The study I saw indicated ~15% and given the big hullabaloo about reducing the number of cars/drivers, to alter the CO2 trends, it's really US drivers more than anything, since globally it's almost the opposite. Our fixation on car culture and suburb living and next to no mass transit for +80% of the country is a major driver on our inability/unwillingness to become better stewards of the planet.
@hunkabilly This is really hard to estimate. I live in the DC 'burbs and life without a car is pretty much untenable here, If you didn't have access to a car, you couldn't come here to live. But who doesn't show up? I voted 20-30% and I HOPE that's high.

It's not going to make any type of cycling in Phoenix any less terrifying but yeah, the $1200.00 I spent on my ebike is $ I could have used for groceries
@EricWayneS 100% AGREED! Phoenix is awful for cyclists. Had some serious biking infrastructure envy this summer when we visited Lyon, France. OMG we rode all over and it was AAAmazing. Wish we could force our legislators in AZ to use public transit and bike to work (when the temperatures permit).

It's not just the roads that are dangerous. I've started calling any business I'm considering cycling to and asking if they have a something safe that I can lock my bike to, if they say no I say nevermind
