It's Bandcamp Friday but it's also rent day and I'm beyond broke, so onto the next.
Also, Bandcamp has locked me out of my main account for some reason, it says it'll send me an email to get back in but it never sends it. Sent THEM an email to try and get it sorted out but who even knows. Account may just be gone. As usual. Modern websites and services. Garbage.
So I've been using a backup account. Not impressed, Bandcamp
Update on the Bandcamp debacle- able to get back in today! Their support was very nice, prompt and helpful (took a few days, but they eventually figured out what the issue was).

@contact thanks, man. Totally sucks. Not always much recourse (they usually don't care). Preparing to just lose access, all of it permanently. That's how it often goes. Hoping for the best, but a project re-name might be around the corner. Or maybe I'll just quit making music! 🤣
@jake4480 nah! Do not quit from music! It's just another tale for your future interviews ! Can it be the universe giving you the hint that you need to go in a better direction!
You can change the name many times you needed, the chemistry provided by the mix of talent and feelings will not need email support.
@contact haha I appreciate it, man. The weirdness happens when several songs were demos, and yeah, maybe you're right. Different bunch, different direction or something. Even though I love those songs and they need proper recording. Sigh haha
@whiteice oh- no, I'm not. And I've gotten plenty of emails from them before? Really not sure why it's happening. Fully expecting to never hear from them, all my own music I've uploaded is maybe just lost if I don't hear back. Time to rename the project and move on? Maybe it's just time to quit making music 🙄 I mean.. Modern websites and services. This happens a lot to me. Twitter. Instagram. Tiktok. They just decide to kick you out, won't let you back in, and it's over. Hoping for better from Bandcamp but I guess we'll see. Wonder if there's another way to contact them if I don't hear back. So tired.
Gosh you'd think just being a paying customer they'd be able to offer some semblance of support, but their support queue is probably a mile long with their low margins.
Did your support request include the email that's supposed to be associated with the account? What's your handle? If their payments processing goes directly to one of your accounts I could buy and album and we could see if that goes through, might provide a clue about whether or not you were hacked.
@buermann@whiteice it's weird, right? Should be the same email as it has been before (I've even gotten emails from them like, in February, etc - and been using the account every day (logged in!) up until yesterday, too. But the account is https://souranteater.bandcamp.com. I'm just hoping to hear back something from their support (and yeah I did include my email there and a decent description of what's going on). And yeah, I HAVE bought things on there. So it's all weird.
@buermann dude that came through! And THANK YOU by the way, I believe this is the first time I've been paid for anything hahaha. You're the man! Super weird though, right? Clearly my correct email is still linked. But when it says they're sending one to verify/reset my password, it doesn't show. Figure I'll give it like a week or so to hear back, and then what, try to find a phone number or something? Wonder if there's separate artist support, I've never gone through anything like this before.
@buermann hahaaa awesome! Man, those were bits from an album I recorded with 3 other dudes in 1997. I snipped my adolescent vocals and they make for some kinda neat instrumental tracks. I totally appreciate it, man. You're probably right. I bet it's the account security mail daemon - which is wild. I wonder if other people are having the same issue, too
glancing at reddit people have been complaining about the exact same issue you're having for over a year, one reported they were able to recover their account by requesting the reset over a VPN; if they have some sort of security block around your IP you could try requesting it over different networks (your phone's hotspot, a coffee shop, a library, a buddy's) if you don't have a VPN.
Every now and then I have to implement some novel algorithm for work and I confess I have had a career-long habit of seeing what the community has to say about it first, which means I've deeply studied the classic text. Copying-and-pasting from reddit is, or at least was until recently, the shortcut around organizing to achieve the efficiencies of workplace democracy.
@buermann Ah wow that's such a good call. I actually JUST got an email from support I almost can't believe it. Now hopefully I have all the things they need..
@buermann So I emailed him back, including attaching the invoice for what you bought today! Hopefully that will be enough? Tough to remember the exact date I signed up for the site, which is one of the questions he asked. Most everything else he asked for, I had. Now let's see how that goes.
