I've had a very long couple of days being brigaded by a group of trollish sociopaths. (I'm still getting hate email).
If I fail to give you the benefit of the doubt in the next little while and unfairly presume the worst of you, I apologize. I'll try not to do that, but I feel like that's a risk at the moment. Thanks for understanding.
That's the most corrosive part of this BS - it pushes you to recalibrate your default assumptions about whether a message from a stranger is in good or bad faith. I'm trying very hard to resist doing that, but am feeling like I'm failing at the moment.
That said, if you come at me with "I'm sorry they accused of you of being a Nazi, but you should have formed your every utterance in a slightly more generous way", I'm going to assume the absolute worst of you right now.
@mattblaze Sounds like a hard time happening mate. Not gonna tell you what to do, but simply suggest the possibility of a digital detox for a day or two. When I get to the point of stressing hard over this domain, I mentally log out for a few days and send a little time with myself and those around me. I see you’re professionally involved, so can be harder to do that. But it can be a bet positive. No bad faith here. Over and out.
@mattblaze Yeah this is kind of sad. It’s like living in a city for a while. If somebody comes up to you and says, “Hi, how are you doing today?” you have to assume that they’re panhandling, taking a survey, or trying to sell you stolen goods, not that they’re being friendly. Nothing good can come of interacting.
@mattblaze I want you to know that I really appreciate the things you post and enjoy following you. I came for the election security research but have enjoyed the other things that I wasn't expecting such as the photography. Sad to hear about all the hate you get.

@mattblaze I value your perspective and knowledge, and any platform you participate in is elevated by it. Sorry that trolls suck and they put you in their sights. Hang in there and know that you have fans as well as trolls.
