Just found a conversation between colleagues. They were very excited about bluesky. I had not heard from it yet. What it sounded to me like was: ‘yadayadaya closed source yadayada no privacy yadayada let’s create a new billionaire CEO.” Why would they even consider it!? Mastodon is great, but not easy enough for the masses, and no marketing, that's why the normal user trying to escape Twitter is excited about the "new twitter" founded by the old "twitter guy", and the same reason Threads got millions of users on launch, easy to sign up, easy to use, lots of marketing.
