Ghost butterfly. I’ve never seen such a worn one flying about before. Most of the scales have fallen off and its wings are like gossamer. In case you can’t recognise it, it’s a peacock.

Yes, I often see ones with frayed wings that are pale with missing scales. But the only one I’ve ever seen this skeletal was in a spider’s web, not flying around!

I guess this peacock butterfly 👆emerged in the spring and is still keeping going, even though eggs laid then by peacocks have now developed into dazzlingly bright new butterflies with colourful, velvety wings.
