> The lawsuit details cases in the county where law enforcement was sent to #MentalHealth emergencies, resulting in trauma or arrests for people in crisis
@joehill
Yeah. It's happening here and there but with some much doubt and apprehension, just clutching to police as the answer despite decades of evidence to the contrary
@BigAngBlack
oh you are in Portland. Sorry, I didn't know. That is terrible the city is not working with the program...it will save them money in the long run. (sometimes that helps to change the minds of the idiots in city hall).
The "police state mentality" runs too deep in North American society.
Our police have the same problems as the US. Racism and violence is terrible. We need to overhaul police at every level. Starting with the police policing themselves garbage.
(sorry for the rant
@BigAngBlack
I had an inside look at our police. I had a relative who was on a police force. Disgusting violent individual. Used to brag about how they treated people. There are a few officers who try to make a difference but often they are forced out by the crappy ones.
Ugh.
So relieved to have cut off that toxicity from my life.
Anyway, I hope you all can get that situation straightened out so people can be treated with compassion, dignity and respect.
