TiffyBelle,

This is a great series of articles by security researcher Mike Kuketz that documents the data transmission behavior of popular web browsers on their default settings, examining the type of connections they make and what data they "phone home" with:

For privacy, even on so-called privacy-respecting browsers, it's important to take time to tweak their configs properly.

voxel,

@TiffyBelle It's worth mentioning the article is already 2 years old, some things changed over time.

TiffyBelle,

@voxel Definitely possible that some things may have changed, although there are a lot of universal data transmission features shown in the research there like browser telemetry which are still usually enabled by default.

The universal take-away from this, though, is that people shouldn't take for granted that their browser is, by default, the most privacy-respecting that it can be. It's important to take time to check configurations if one is interested in tightening things up in that regard.

voxel,

@TiffyBelle True. So far ik Brave is asking you at the first start up if you want to allow "anonymous analystics" or not.

katoda,

@TiffyBelle is there an english version

TiffyBelle,

@katoda Sadly not; the writer is German and there's no alternative languages available.

With that said, this is such insightful research that it is worth taking the time to translate articles for any browser relevant to you. Depending on what browser you're using, it may even be possible to translate the page in situ.
