I watched Abigail last night and I feel like this has been done before. The titles escape me at the moment but I have seen more than one movie where kidnappers end up finding out that it's not really a child they are holding for ransom. @horror
@KentuckyConjurer@horror yes! I was thinking it might have been like an old episode of Tales From The Darkside or Tales From The Crypt but I think you are right that it was an anthology movie not a tv series
Twilight Zone The Movie has the segment with the little boy who essentially has people trapped in his house. Every time he gets angry, something terrible happens. That's the one I was thinking of.
@Well_Worth_A_Read@horror The trailer reminds me A LOT of the movie LIVID. But Livid was really original and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I assume ABIGAIL will be fine, but I am likely not going to consider it as memorable.
(Btw, LIVID was on Shudder and if it still is and you have Shudder, I highly recommend it.)
@Well_Worth_A_Read@horror just this morning, I read a review in which the movie was criticized for spoilering itself via trailers and promos, making the first part of the movie pointless. It was also criticized for repeating other titles, as you noted. They were mainly referring to "Ready or Not", which was probably produced by the same team(?)
@biancotitanio@horror Everyone on my facebook friends list is saying how amazing it was so they made me want to watch it. I agree with the reviews you read. I should have read them first lol.
