The shortest exit from my house to outside of the Ann Arbor city limits - not counting the archipelago of township islands inside the city limits - is a 20 minute bike ride southbound to Pittsfield Township.
My route is down Page instead of Packard -- a whole lot less traffic. Then across the freeway on the pedestrian bridge at Stone School.
Did I stupidly leave my keys for my bicycle lock at home? Yes. Were there any consequences for that? No, but I need new habits.
@w8emv@w8emv I lock my bike to a ring in the garage. It's not hardened and just screwed into a wood post, but it will stop any passersby from easily rolling away with it if the door gets left open, and keeps me from leaving without a key. Works even if you just loop a cable through the triangle and attach it with the lock left in the bracket.
