This came up in my music feed at work today, and it might fit the bill. Somewhere between dark ambient and deep house, with just enough worldbeat accents to be a bit too positive for me… Sorry for the ymusic link, it’s just a youtube link in disguise. ymusicapp.com/watch?v=0ElS7t0SGE8
I like these a lot. I wish they were longer. I lean toward the darker vibe, so the second one is my favourite, but the bubbling LFO in the first one was tasty.
Ayy, thanks! I actually thought to keep them under 10 minutes because I felt people wouldn’t give it a listen otherwise. But that’s nice to hear, then! I’ll loosen up and take them further.
I hear bubbling LFO in the second one (insect-like). Gives it an organic flavor I enjoy.
Would need more elaborate arrangement to justify lengthening them IMO. Is it worth the bother? You may enjoy arranging though - just saying that to me they sound perfect as they are (although I only listened on phone speakers so far, but your getting drone music to sound good on lofi is an achievement in itself).
The first track scratched my spectral itch (though the track isn’t strictly spectral). Well balanced tonally. My 2c as a listener is to ask for more new tracks.
No, you're supposed to interpret that notation however you like. There's an amazing project by Sarah Belle Reid where she send postcards to musicians and they interpret them musically. Here's an example:
Thanks! Been exploring using different sound sources and seeing what I can create with them. Really helps creativity when you deviate from your comfort or when you limit your tools. Can't wait to see this community grow!
I had never dug my claws into ambient country before, but this seems like a good time as any. It had never occured to me that the combination of those two would result in such a pleasant soundscape!
